Boosie Badazz is making strategic moves to gain Donald Trump’s attention regarding his federal gun case.
The rapper from Baton Rouge has reportedly enlisted the help of lobbyists, aiming for a potential presidential pardon in the near future.
As revealed by public affairs platform LegiStorm, Boosie has brought on J.M. Burkman & Associates to advocate for his case following his plea agreement in a federal gun possession charge in San Diego. The lobbying registration form submitted to the U.S. Senate identifies Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl as the lobbyists advocating on his behalf.
The rapper was arrested in May 2023 during a visit to San Diego, where he planned to film a music video and perform at a club. The arrest followed a traffic stop during which officers uncovered two firearms after tracking his vehicle with a helicopter.
Initially facing state charges, the case escalated when federal authorities assumed jurisdiction. Though an appellate court dismissed the charges at one point, federal prosecutors successfully refiled the case and overturned the ruling.
Boosie Badazz, known for his hit “Wipe Me Down” and whose real name is Torence Hatch Jr., recently told fans that he accepted a plea deal after feeling worn out by the prolonged legal battle. He is now awaiting sentencing on November 21, with federal prosecutors recommending a two-year prison term — significantly lower than the maximum 15 years he could face.
“JUST ACCEPTED A PLEA FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON MY GUN CASE,” Boosie posted on X at the time. “I THOUGHT THIS CASE WAS OVER N I WAS GOING TO GET ON WITH MY LIFE BUT ‘GOD DONT MAKE MISTAKES’ N IM TIRED OF FIGHTING!!”
