Young Thug has dashed fans’ hopes of a collaborative album with The Alchemist, admitting he has no idea who the producer is.

The buzz began after a viral meme suggested that Young Thug and the renowned producer were secretly working on an “introspective jazz” album. However, the Atlanta rapper cleared up the speculation, revealing he wasn’t familiar with The Alchemist at all.

The misunderstanding took off when stylist Ian Connor shared a text exchange with Thug on Twitter. In the chat, Connor asked Thug if he had seen the meme or knew about The Alchemist. Thug simply replied, “No, who’s this?”

Connor responded by praising the producer as “one of the greatest of all time” and suggested they brainstorm a plan to make something happen.

Whether their conversation continued or if Thug took the time to look up the famed beatmaker — responsible for critically acclaimed projects with Freddie Gibbs, Earl Sweatshirt, and Boldy James — remains unknown.

The viral meme originated from a tweet by Debating Hip-Hop, which envisioned a jazzy collaborative project between the two artists. Fans quickly ran with the concept, transforming it into a trending topic across rap Twitter. Even The Alchemist himself was questioned about the rumor during ComplexCon.

Half-jokingly, Alchemist replied: “I can’t confirm or deny anything, bro. I need that, too. You can hook it up? Talk to him [points to fan]. If he makes it happen, then it’s gon’ happen. It’s on you now, bro.”
