Alicia Andrews, a 22-year-old woman accused of being involved in the 2024 murder of rapper Foolio, has been convicted of manslaughter.
On Friday (October 31), Law & Crime released footage from the courtroom showing the jury’s verdict. While Andrews was found guilty of manslaughter, she was acquitted of conspiracy to commit murder. The manslaughter conviction carries a potential sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Testifying in court on Thursday (October 30), Andrews stated she was unaware of any plan to kill Foolio in Tampa, Florida and claimed she feared her boyfriend, Isaiah Chance.
According to the prosecution, Chance orchestrated the ambush that led to the rapper’s death. Andrews described Chance as having been physically and emotionally abusive during their relationship, saying he had exerted significant control over her life.
“He started to be a little more controlling,” Andrews said of Chance after they began dating in 2021. “As I got older, and I would wanna go out, he didn’t like that… He would tell me what to post, what not to post or if he didn’t want me to take something down. Don’t wear this, don’t wear that.” She said she followed Chance’s orders. “I didn’t know no better at the time.”
Andrews claimed that, on the night of the murder, she stayed in the car while Chance and others stepped out, supposedly to get food. Unbeknownst to her, they allegedly carried out the fatal attack on Foolio.
“I mean, I heard a lot of shots so I didn’t know what went on,” Andrews said. “Shooting in the air, somebody got shot at, I didn’t know.”
This trial marks the first in connection to Foolio’s murder. Andrews was among five individuals charged in the case. The rapper was killed on June 23, 2024, outside a Holiday Inn in Tampa.
