A posthumous album from the late music legend D’Angelo is officially in progress, according to longtime collaborator Questlove.

During a recent interview with The National News Network, Questlove shared the update, expressing excitement about the upcoming release.

“You’ll see soon. With him, it’s always the sound of yesterday but for the future. And this record is no different. So when it comes out, you’ll know.”

Details such as the release date or guest features remain undisclosed.

In September 2024, Raphael Saadiq spoke on the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast, shedding light on D’Angelo’s creative efforts in the studio prior to his passing.

“D’s in a good space,” he stated. “He’s excited. He’s like, ‘You gotta play bass. I’ve got this track. I’m telling you, you got to get on it. It got your name all over it.’”

Saadiq also revealed that D’Angelo had been working on six pieces of music at that time and seemed deeply enthusiastic about the project.

The celebrated artist tragically passed away around a month ago. His family confirmed the cause as cancer, and he was just 51 years old.
