Tekashi 6ix9ine has been sentenced to 3 months in prison following a probation violation linked to his 2018 RICO conviction.
The rapper appeared before Judge Paul A. Engelmayer on December 5 at the Federal District Court in Manhattan, New York. Prior to the sentencing, the judge consulted with the probation office, which had initially proposed an additional three months of house arrest.
During the proceedings, it was noted that 6ix9ine had participated in mental health counseling and received guidance regarding his social media behavior.
Judge Engelmayer expressed frustration, reportedly stating via Inner City Press, “You’ve been throwing resources at him but he’s still a dumpster fire. You have repeatedly violated your conditions and the Court’s trust. All you had to do was not violate. But you had cocaine and MDMA in your home. You chased a man and beat him until you realized he had a gun.”
Following this, Judge Engelmayer handed down the three-month prison sentence.
This marks the third time 6ix9ine has violated the terms of his supervised release. These conditions were part of a plea agreement stemming from his 2019 racketeering case. In that case, he cooperated with authorities as a State’s witness against several members of New York’s Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang.
