J. Cole has officially addressed Cam’ron’s lawsuit regarding “Ready ’24,” refuting claims that there was ever an agreement to collaborate on a future project in return for Cam’s participation on the track.
Cam’ron’s lawsuit, initially filed in October 2025, alleges that Cole broke a promise to provide either a feature verse or an interview as compensation for his appearance on the song “Might Delete Later.”
Furthermore, the Harlem rapper claims he was neither properly credited nor compensated for his contributions to the track, which became a Billboard Hot 100 hit. He is seeking at least $500,000 as his share of the song’s profits.
In court documents submitted on February 10, J. Cole’s legal team countered these allegations, maintaining that no such agreement was ever established.
According to the filing, they assert that Cam’ron participated in “Ready ’24” voluntarily and without any conditions attached. It was also noted that Cam’ron had not raised any concerns prior to the song’s commercial release.
Cole’s attorney, Christine Lepera, argued that Cam’ron was supportive of the project, stating in the court filing that Cam “encouraged and blessed” the use of his performance because it benefited his career.
She further criticized Cam for making post-release demands, alleging he only began requesting “unreasonable conditions” and fees that exceeded industry norms after the song had already been released.
Lepera additionally accused Cam’ron of attempting to use public disparagement as leverage, adding: “It was only after the release of ‘Ready ‘24’ that he began to demand unreasonable conditions never agreed to by Cole, or an excessive fee inconsistent with industry standards for a featured performance, followed by the filing of this lawsuit without notice to publicly disparage Cole as leverage.”
As of now, neither Cam’ron nor his legal representatives have responded to J. Cole’s filing.
