The California Supreme Court has rejected Tory Lanez‘s bid to overturn his shooting conviction, leaving the verdict intact.
The court denied Lanez’s petition to review his case related to the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, as detailed in an update on appellatecases.courtinfo.ca.gov. This decision follows the California Court of Appeals upholding his conviction three months ago.
The case dates back to July 2020, when Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion during an argument in the Hollywood Hills. In December 2022, he was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
The 33-year-old Canadian artist was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2022. Despite maintaining his innocence, his efforts to overturn the ruling and secure a retrial have been unsuccessful. Lanez will be eligible for parole in August 2029.
