20 years ago today, the Hip-Hop community mourned the loss of Proof, a pivotal figure in Detroit’s rap scene and a founding member of D12.
On April 11, 2006, Proof’s life was tragically cut short in Detroit at the age of 32. Renowned for his incisive lyricism, magnetic charisma, and leadership within D12, he was instrumental in shaping both the group’s identity and Detroit’s standing in the Hip-Hop world.
Beyond his contributions to music, Proof was deeply respected as a mentor and a close confidant of Eminem, playing a significant role in supporting and influencing his rise during the early stages of his career.
His legacy endures through his artistry, his lasting influence, and the mark he left on Hip-Hop culture.
