Eminem recently celebrated a significant milestone in his life, marking 18 years of sobriety on Monday (April 20).
The 53-year-old rapper shared the achievement with his fans on Instagram, posting a picture of himself holding up his golden 18-year sobriety coin.
The coin bears the phrase “To thine own self be true” along the top in bold black letters, alongside the words “unity, service, and recovery” encircling a golden triangle with the number 18 displayed in Roman numerals at its center.
Alongside the photo, he kept the caption simple yet powerful: “XVIII🏅.”
To commemorate the occasion, Eminem — born Marshall Bruce Mathers III — wore a vintage T-shirt as a nod to D-Nice’s 1991 To Tha Rescue album, which was the second and final solo studio release from the former Boogie Down Productions member.
In 2022, the Detroit native opened up to his longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg, sharing how it had taken significant time for his mind to recover fully after surviving a near-fatal overdose in 2007.
This celebration of recovery comes during an already joyful period for Eminem. He recently became a grandfather when his eldest daughter, Alaina Scott — whom he adopted in the early 2000s — welcomed a baby girl just last week.
