Young Thug has announced that he’s considering a major change.

On April 29, the Atlanta rapper took to X to reveal his plans to adopt a new name.

“I’m changing my f–king name ASAP, bro,” he posted, seemingly reacting to a post about Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender. Born Jeffery Lamar Williams II, the artist appeared unsettled by the association with his first name after viewing the post.

The original post that prompted his response read, “And just like that… everybody stopped talking about the Epstein Files.” It included images of Epstein — who passed away in 2019 while in custody — alongside what appeared to be underage girls.

Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on charges of sex trafficking minors and conspiracy. Prosecutors claimed he had manipulated and abused numerous underage girls, coercing them into sexual acts in exchange for money.

A month after his arrest, Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell, with his death officially ruled a suicide. A subsequent report from the Justice Department’s Inspector General examined the circumstances surrounding his death.
