On May 6, during the ninth day of the trial for the murder of Jacksonville rapper Foolio, prosecutors revealed a startling video featuring suspect Sean Gathright attempting to break out of an interrogation room following his arrest in July 2024.
While the prosecution argued that the footage was relevant to the case, Gathright’s defense team pushed back, claiming it would unfairly bias the jury against their client.
In the footage, Gathright is seen removing his ankle monitor in frustration. He becomes visibly agitated and demands to leave the interrogation room, shouting, “Let me out!”
Taking matters further, Gathright climbs onto a table via a chair and begins tampering with what looks like a ceiling vent. When his attempt to access the vent fails, he comes back down.
Moments later, a detective enters the room and orders him to sit back in his chair.
After reviewing the video, Judge Kimberly Fernandez ruled that only specific segments of the footage could be shown to the jury, focusing primarily on Gathright removing his ankle monitor.
Gathright is one of four defendants — alongside Davion Murphy, Isaiah Chance, and Rashad Murphy — facing trial for the ambush and killing of Foolio on June 23, 2024.
Prosecutors claim the murder was a result of an ongoing feud between rival gangs.
