Tyga has unveiled a new persona, $TARFACE, drawing inspiration from the iconic 1980s character, Scarface.
Throughout the week, Tyga, known as T-Raww, has been sharing posts on Instagram that embrace a full 1980s vibe, featuring a Jheri curl, leather vests, and plenty of leopard print. This Friday (July 3), he is set to release “GAVE U RACKS,” the first single of this new era, where he delves into singing over a synth-wave beat.
A few weeks ago, he gave fans a taste of another 1980s-themed track in collaboration with Fenix Flexin, whose current hit “Rubberz” also explores the synth-pop genre. In the preview clip of their track “LAVI$H,” they continue to experiment with the sounds characteristic of that time. The clip created quite a stir online, garnering over 13 million views and 15,000 comments so far.
It remains uncertain whether “LAVI$H” will be released as a single for Fenix or for $TARFACE.
Tyga’s last major project was NSFW in 2025, featuring artists like Big Sean, Flo Milli, Lil Wayne, Shenseea, Cher, Lil Tjay, and Ty Dolla $ign. This was his first solo release in six years and stayed true to his rap roots, making the $TARFACE direction feel like a significant departure from his recent work.
