According to Forbes, Tekashi 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj’s hit single “TROLLZ” broke the record for the biggest fall from the charts in its history ever for a debut single.
Although “TROLLZ” reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 last week, Tekashi has another record under his belt. In its second week, the song plummeted from #1 to #34 on the Billboard charts.
Forbes explained that the free-fall of “TROLLZ” can be partially attributed to the song’s reliance on physical sales in its first week.
Securing the top spot was down to the rapper’s sales being…
…bolstered by a slew of music/merchandise bundles and a discounted iTunes download price of 69 cents. This emphasis on physical/digital bundles has become increasingly common for artists looking to inflate the first-week numbers of a new single, but it often results in a precipitous week-two drop.
