The long wait for J. Coleβs seventh studio album entitled “The Fall Off” may be coming to an end.
The Germany-born rapper uploaded a 10-minute vlog called “Might Delete Later, Vol. 1,” which follows Coleβs travels as part of the “Itβs All A Blur β Big As The What?” tour with Drake, featuring appearances from the tourβs new opener Lil Durk.
About four minutes in, Cole previews the new track where he sounds hungry to make 2024 another big year as he peppers the ominous production with hard-hitting rhymes.
βThereβs not a rap n*gga breathing that could outlast/ The Fall-Off is like Hov dropping Reasonable Doubt lastβ the Dreamville head honcho raps in an homage to Jay-Z. βWe from the South where learn all about stashing.β
Cole compares “The Fall Off” to Jay-Zβs “Reasonable Doubt” and goes on to remind the industry that heβs the best at what he does and those who once questioned him have no right to share the glory with him.
Another scene features the North Carolina native complaining about how he hasnβt sharpened his production skills in a while and as a result, his rapping mastery has lapped his dexterity behind the boards. Cole also revealed heβs recently been in the studio with Metro Boomin.
βItβs like I have a desire like, man, I want to get back to making beats. I want to get back good but then Iβm like itβs been so long and Iβve been putting so much work in on the rap sβt that Iβm so far behind now on the production. Iβm the worst Iβve ever been,β he admitted.
J. Coleβs last album, “The Off-Season,” arrived in May 2021 and the release soared to earn himself his sixth #1 on the Billboard 200 with 282,000 total album units sold in the first week.
