Lil Durk’s legal battle just hit another major hurdle.
A federal judge ordered that the Chicago rapper remain in jail pending his trial on murder-for-hire charges, citing a report that he is violating jail rules by using other inmates’ phone accounts and engaging in three-way calls.
On Thursday (May 8), Lil Durk appeared before a judge for a scheduled bond review hearing. His legal team pushed hard for his release on bond, arguing that much of the prosecution’s proposed evidence, like Rap lyrics and posts from fan pages, shouldn’t be admissible.
They also argued for the entire case to be thrown out.
After hearing from both sides, the judge ruled that Durk will remain behind bars until his case is tried in court.
As previously reported, Lil Durk is accused of ordering the murder of Georgia rapper Quando Rondo, whose cousin was killed in a botched ambush near the Beverly Center mall in Los Angeles in 2022. Banks has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The trial is scheduled to begin on October 14 after being delayed from January 7.
