In September, the dismembered remains of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas were found in an impounded Tesla linked to D4vd.
Public outcry for justice has been relentless, and earlier this month, authorities officially made an arrest. The “Here With Me” singer now faces charges of first-degree murder alongside several other serious offenses.
Reports from the Associated Press reveal new allegations made by prosecutors on Wednesday (April 29). They assert that his actions were driven by a desire to silence Rivas, who had reportedly threatened to reveal their romantic involvement.
“Knowing he had to silence the victim before she ruined his music career as she had threatened, very soon after her arrival at his home, defendant stabbed the victim to death multiple times and stood by while she bled out,” the filing alleges.
Prosecutors further claimed to have discovered text messages on D4vd’s phone that revealed the nature of their improper relationship. Additionally, they reportedly uncovered child sexual abuse images involving Rivas.
“The messages reveal the victim’s jealousy over defendant’s relationships with other women, as defendant led her to believe they had a future together,” the filing alleges. “She became extremely upset and threatened to disclose damaging information about her relationship with defendant to end his career and destroy his life.”
Prosecutors claim that D4vd arranged for a rideshare vehicle to transport Rivas from Lake Elsinore to his Hollywood residence last April. After her arrival, it is reported that her phone ceased all activity.
Allegedly, the artist later bought two chainsaws online, which he is accused of using to dismember Rivas’ body in an inflatable pool set up in his garage.
D4vd has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges brought against him. Both he and his legal team firmly deny the accusations.
“Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death,” his attorneys said in a statement shortly after his arrest.
“There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed. David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”
