North West, the daughter of Ye, has officially stepped into the music world with the release of her debut single, “Piercing On My Hand”.
Following previous appearances on her father’s tracks, North has now ventured into solo territory. Her first single dropped on February 6 and is available on major streaming platforms.
The song, built around a soulful sample and co-produced by Ye and Will Frenchman, showcases the 12-year-old’s rap skills as she confidently explores themes of her extravagant teenage life.
In the chorus, North delivers bold lines like, “Piercing on my hand, the other holdin’ bands/No friends, just fans, you wouldn’t understand. Shoppin’ in Japan, that’s where I always stand/Went to school for two days, then I got banned.”
The track continues with North rapping about her fashionable wardrobe and youthful mischief in the first verse: “Skippin’ school, yeah, I do that on the daily/Jaded London fits, someone’s gonna save me/Got some new Ricks, yeah, they are so crazy/All my songs are hits, you know I’m not lazy,”
North and Ye are reportedly collaborating on her debut rap album, titled “Elementary School Dropout”. In January 2025, Ye gave an update on North’s project in a now-removed Instagram post. The update featured a black-and-white photo of North sitting beside a keyboard, accompanied by a heartfelt caption.
