The trial for Pooh Shiesty, his father, Big30, and six others accused of allegedly robbing Gucci Mane has been postponed to 2027.
On June 5, Senior United States District Judge David C. Godbey approved a request to delay proceedings, granting an extension in the case.
“The failure to grant a continuance in this case would deny defendant’s counsel the reasonable time necessary for effective preparation taking into account the exercise of due diligence,” the ruling reads.
“By taking into account the exercise of due diligence by defense counsel, a continuance of the duration granted by this order is necessary for effective preparation by defense counsel.”
Originally scheduled to commence on July 6, the trial has been postponed to February 22, 2027, with the final pretrial conference set for February 17, 2027.
Pooh Shiesty, along with his father Lontrell Williams Sr., rapper Big30, and six additional co-defendants, faces federal charges of robbery and kidnapping. Prosecutors allege that the group enticed Gucci Mane to a recording studio in Dallas under the pretense of collaborating on music.
However, investigators claim that Pooh Shiesty brandished an assault rifle and coerced Gucci Mane to sign a document releasing Pooh from his 1017 recording contract. Following this, the defendants are accused of robbing Gucci Mane and his associates, stealing money, jewelry, and other valuables.
Since their arrest in April, Pooh Shiesty has remained in custody after being denied pretrial release, while his father and Big30 were granted bond and released ahead of the trial.
