Pooh Shiesty‘s attorney has argued that the rapper might have been printing song lyrics at Staples rather than a release contract for Gucci Mane, as claimed by prosecutors.

On April 13, Bradford Cohen, the lead attorney representing Pooh Shiesty, joined an interview on Law and Crime’s Sidebar with Jesse Weber to discuss the high-profile case involving the Memphis rapper.

In the conversation, Cohen responded to allegations from prosecutors suggesting they have evidence indicating that Pooh Shiesty and his father visited a Staples store to print a contract, which Gucci Mane was allegedly forced to sign under duress.

“I don’t even care if they’re at Staples,” Cohen said. “They are going to a recording studio. Normally, my clients usually print off the lyrics for different individuals. If you have five individuals that are going to be on one record, and they each have a section or a part, they’ll usually print those things off.”

“We have to create the defense and create a way to make sure that [the government] is held to their burden,” Cohen continued. “So, it doesn’t matter what they say. It matters what they have.”

Pooh Shiesty, his father, Big30, and six other individuals are facing charges related to an alleged robbery and kidnapping involving Gucci Mane and others at a Dallas recording studio this past January. Prosecutors allege that during what was intended to be a business meeting, Pooh Shiesty brandished a firearm at Gucci Mane, pressuring him to sign a contract release form.

If convicted, all nine men could potentially face life imprisonment. Pooh Shiesty was recently denied bond and remains in federal custody as the case unfolds.
